JIAT students hike - Kirigalpotha (2017-January)

Kirigalpotha was the next destination of the Mountaineering Club of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology. Kirigalpotha was the next destination of the Mountaineering Club of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology. Early on the dawn of second Friday of January 2017, members of the Mountaineering Club of the Java Institute arrived at the Thummulla Branch to depart to Kirigalpotha. The challenging terrain was conquered by both amateur and experienced mountaineers despite the extreme weather conditions and time. The adventurous expedition was deeply exciting and dangerous but as the guiding members and the participants of the expedition from the Java Institute were experienced, all the challenges were handled effectively. Starting their journey at midnight, the members of the Mountaineering Club commenced climbing Kirigalpotha at dawn. The captivating scenery of the area inspired all members and this natural beauty can be observed from the photographs.

A heavy focus on adventurous extra-curricular activities, including the Mountaineering Club, Air Rifling Club, and several martial arts clubs, has enhanced the skills of the undergraduates of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology. In addition to the long hours of challenging lectures and theory classes, the students also acquire physical as well as practical development. Together, these enable the students of the Java Institute to excel in any challenge they are faced with. Mr. Bhatiya Tissera, the Managing Director of the Java Institute, who also holds the position of Head of the Mountaineering Club, acted as the mentor for the expedition. The undergraduates who took part in the event experienced a tough yet fulfilling mountaineering expedition. Air rifling events were also provided by the Java Institute on this day and despite the challenges, the participants enjoyed themselves immensely.
